Recently, the Asian region has experienced record-high temperatures, causing severe heat waves and droughts. Numerous countries, including Myanmar, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam, are experiencing casualties and agricultural damage due to the heat. In southern Vietnam, a massive fish kill of over 2 million tons occurred. These heat waves disproportionately affect the poor in the ASEAN region, as evidenced by the disparity in air conditioning ownership. Reports from UN agencies indicate that Asia is one of the most vulnerable regions to climate change, with frequent floods and droughts. Warnings suggest that these climate changes will cause significant economic damage globally. This article explores the efforts and solutions to overcome these challenges.
